<h5>Payne County Democrats</h5><h5>Meeting Minutes from 8 May 2025</h5><h5>Stillwater Community Center &nbsp; &nbsp; Stillwater, OK 74074</h5><h5>Snacks and socializing at 6:00pm, meeting at 6:30pm </h5>Present at Meeting:&nbsp; Lisa Bozeman, Nancy Brookes-Davenport, Sam Cypert-Worley, Justin Cypert-Worley, Florence Degler, Mary Dickey, Michelle Dickey, Cynthia Gedra, Deanna Homer, John Homer, Kathy Huston, Jim Huston, Diane Lowe, Abigail Martin, Avery McIntyre, Sarah Prater, Elyssa Hoffman, Alberta Bertenshaw, Bud Reese Officer Reports: President’s Report and announcements: Sarah Prater gave a Statement of Intent for the meeting today for us to be able to best participate in our Democracy.Alicia Andrews, Justin Cypert-Worley, Florence Degler and Abigail Martin added their ideas about living our values, electing more Democrats, taking care of the community, speaking up for fellow Oklahomans so that we all have the same government rights and protections.Sarah gave a brief introduction of herself. She is Sarah Fultz Prater, a mom of kids from the age of 27 to 8 years old. She wants to capitalize on overlaps between what different Stillwater and Payne County groups are doing. Politics is people together making decisions. She thinks that if more people voted, we’d see that Oklahoma is “purple”. Special guest speaker Alicia Andrews Alicia has been State Chair for 6 years. She ran to make the State Party more responsive to all Oklahoma counties and to get the Party out of debt, which she has done.We have to campaign everywhere in the state and has partnered with “Contest Every Race”Three quarters of our money comes from small donations.In the last few years we have lost 100,000 registered Democrats. We will focus on voter outreach and targeted voter registration. An anonymous donor has given $75,000.00 to fund this targeted voter registration.We must help and support people who are running for office.We must run Democratic candidates, get people out to vote, and be loud and proud Democrats. Finance Report:&nbsp; Sam Cypert-Worley We will use a standardized budget accounting system like what OSU uses. It is much more rigorous than what we have been using, and uses standard accounting codes. We will move to a May to April fiscal year. The cost is $800.00 up front, then $50.00 per month after that, based on the number of active Democrats.Alicia Andrews suggested that we link to the State Party’s “Mobilize” on our website. It tells you what events are happening in your location. Motion passed to find the money to afford to pay for this website. Public Education

Stillwater, OK – This past Tuesday, amid the quiet of summer in Cowboy Country, the town’s community center was abuzz with activity. The Payne County Democrats hosted a very successful Precinct Officer Training to expand civic engagement at a grassroots level in Payne County, with every single seat taken in the room.&nbsp;Oklahoma Democratic Party (ODP) leaders Lauren Craig (Executive Director), Molly Oeffner (Operations Director), and Krislyn Sherer (Field Director) made the drive to America’s friendliest college town to continue strengthening the Democratic presence in Payne County. Amidst a sea of red, Stillwater and its outlying communities have shown in recent years to be a left-leaning safe zone for the Oklahoma Democratic Party that continues to expand its ground, with the Payne County Democrats quickly becoming one of the largest and most active county chapters in the state.&nbsp;The work continued Tuesday, with ODP staff training volunteers from across the Stillwater community on techniques for success to engage undecided and inactive voters. A series of breakout sessions, one-on-one coaching, and classroom lecturing engaged attendees to bridge the gap and help continuing to advance Democratic ideals within the state of Oklahoma.&nbsp;The Payne County Democrats would like to extend a special thank-you to the Oklahoma Democratic Party for facilitating this training and energizing the county’s base. Stillwater, OK - This past Thursday, not a single seat remained vacant at the Payne County Democrats’ monthly general meeting. Voters from across the county convened at the Stillwater Community Center to get involved and hear about the important work county leaders and elected officials are conducting to expand Democratic causes at a time when more Americans grow frustrated with the current state of governance in the United States. Late arrivals stood and lined the outer walls as County Chair Sarah Prater called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, with resources on civic engagement tips being distributed to those seeking to get more involved in upholding our democracy. Rep. Trish Ranson (D - Stillwater) was also in attendance at this month’s meeting, providing updates on the end of the legislative session at the State Capitol in Oklahoma City, OK, and the work legislators coordinated to override Gov. Stitt’s numerous vetoes of important bills that would assist everyday Oklahomans.&nbsp; Members of the Stillwater Blue Dots community group and Red Wine and Blue were also in attendance, showing a continued unification of left-leaning organizations geared toward the common cause of helping everyday Americans who are struggling under today’s economic and governmental policies, as well as electing public officials who genuinely have Americans’ interests in mind. The Payne County Democrats would like to extend a special thank you to all who attended this month’s meeting, and the county officers look forward to seeing everyone at future meetings and social events as we work to build a better future for all. Democratic momentum builds in Payne County as more Americans grow frustrated

El Reno, OK - The Payne County Democratic Party is proud to announce that three members have been elected to officer roles for Congressional District 3. This dedicated group of Payne County residents will not only help advance the entirety of the district, but also ensure that Payne County's voice continues to be actively heard at a wide-ranging level.Avery McIntyre has been elected to the role of Vice Chair for Congressional District 3. Avery has held an extensive range of officer positions ranging from the College Democrats of Oklahoma State University to the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature and beyond.Carter Lowry has been elected to the role of Affirmative Action Officer. Currently serving as the Vice President of the College Democrats of Oklahoma State University, Lowry is new to the political scene and is quickly rising through the ranks at a university and state level.Emmerson Cave has also been elected to the role of Affirmative Action Officer. A former Texas native, Cave has also been moving up through the ranks of democratic politics at a collegiate and county level in the place she now calls home - Oklahoma."The election of these three incredibly talented up-and-coming political shakers marks a victory for both Payne County and the State of Oklahoma," said Payne County Democratic Party Vice Chair Sam Cypert-Worley. Hello, Courageous Democrats!Thank you Payne County Democrats for showing up and taking action this past month!&nbsp;As we look at our accomplishments so far, hopefully this newsletter will encourage you to spread the word to&nbsp;your neighbors, friends and family that we are here, lifting up our neighbors, activating our community and we are on the path toward building an impressively strong organization promoting democratic ideals in Oklahoma.&nbsp; I'd like to thank the previous Chairman and his event team, and Leader Munson and her campaign team, and the dozens of community leaders, and each and every one of YOU&nbsp;who donated, volunteered and showed up to make Diamond Donkey 2025 a huge success last month. After paying for all the expenses of hosting the event, we have double the balance we started with the week before the event. We are in an&nbsp;excellent position to strategically invest in continuing to grow our organization -- to find those who feel politically alienated, to pull the leaders out of the woodwork, and to take Oklahoma back from the "testing-ground" fascist followers who think they can redefine our state against our values and against the will of the people. We must continue to build on our momentum, organize against tyranny and refuse to let ourselves or our communities be defined by anyone other than We the People.&nbsp; After securing our budget, we got to work training our volunteers, educating ourselves, collaborating across our communities and planning for the next steps. We attended the ODP State&nbsp;Chair Forum as well as a the ODP&nbsp;Virtual Town Hall with U.S. Senator Jamie Raskin in coordination with North Dakota Democrats. We reestablished the Payne County Dems Facebook Forum as a location for relevant announcements and discussion. We established a collaborative Community Care Door-knocking Campaign with the Stillwater Consortium and participated in their first FRIENDraiser, as well as a PFLAG Pride Picnic and a No Kings Day Protest led by Red, Wine and Blue. We established a carpool for the upcoming Fight Oligarchy Tour in Tulsa. And this Thursday our new roster of committee chairs, co-chairs and members will attend our PCD Committee Kick-Off and Planning Meeting. This dedicated group of local Democrats will guide the party’s efforts across Payne County for the 2025–2027 term.Sarah Prater has been elected as Chair of the Payne County Democrats. Prater brings a deep commitment to grassroots organizing and community engagement. Her leadership aims to expand voter outreach, strengthen local activism, and empower a new generation of Democratic voices across the county.Joining her is Samuel Cypert, newly elected Vice Chair, who will support party operations and spearhead new initiatives to increase civic participation and visibility for Democratic candidates in Payne County.Cynthia Gedra will continue to serve as Secretary, ensuring smooth internal communication and documentation, while playing a vital role in coordinating meetings and events.The party also welcomes its newly elected Affirmative Action Officers, Christian Jimenez and Cal Prater, who will lead the charge in building a more inclusive and representative local party. Payne County Democrats Elect New Leadership

Stillwater, OK - This past week, the Payne County Democrats (PCD) made strides to continue the momentum of growth occurring at the party. With the fundraising success of Diamond Donkey 2025, as well as continued recurring donation growth, PCD was able to formally establish a new permanent office location, furthering the county's strategy for increasing voter engagement, community participation and membership expansion.The new office space, located at <a href="https://coworkit.net/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">WorkIT Co-Working Center</a>, empowers residents with progressive interests to get involved and have regular communication with officers, committee chairs and volunteers. By leasing with WorkIT, PCD is now able to accommodate continued growth, have a centralized space for volunteer meetings, equipment pickups and storage, as well as provide continual meeting spaces for members with access to communal working areas and reservable conference rooms. Furthermore, establishing an office presence at a centralized location in downtown Stillwater gives the county the unique opportunity to expand visibility among residents and visitors alike.Additionally, the new office space establishes PCD's inaugural Voter Command Center, which houses numerous opportunities and resources for new members to get involved both with the party and other progressive-leaning causes within county communities.PCD are currently working through the logistics of establishing a volunteer schedule to ensure that the office remains open during most business hours.
